Thank you so much for shedding light on this situation. I have been trying to enlighten people to the evils that are China for decades, to very little avail. My grandfather's family had to flee and leave everything behind in the dark of the night after spending a few years on the side of the Nationalists in China thinking they could save their adopted country from the evil that is communism. As a former diplomat to China during the early 20th century, my great grandfather must have seen things others could not and had to admit his side was going to lose. He left centuries of family history and wealth as they had to act completely normal until they fled in order to save their own lives. It was and is an ugly time in Chinese history, I really wish more people would realize the ruthlessness of these leaders and how they play mind games. I have a dear friend from China, who cannot return, who still loves his country and even agrees with so much of the communist way. It is a psy ops many can never really understand.
Stalin was financing the communists from the outset and took a particular interest in Mao, who after a brief neutral period showed himself to be ruthless. The Soviet archives opened during the Yeltsin era showed the many payments and strategic and tactical direction provided by Moscow, including sowing class conflict in the impoverished countryside.
