The stories about tanks are really stories about creating a series of new, expensive, & slow moving targets which will need to be defended by other highly expensive & advanced technologies and weapons systems. It’s also about the testing and on-the-ground validation of these advanced and expensive technologies - such as missile defense and advanced anti-drone warfare technologies. But it’s not about the tanks. The anti-drone warfare & missile defense systems are riding shotgun on the tanks.
This is a classic Rape of the Mind strategy being applied by the Military Industrial Complex.
Make the story about the tanks, when the story is not about the tanks. If I see one more story about the God damn tanks.
The story about the tanks is not about the tanks.
The tanks create new, large, and expensive ducks. At these ducks, cheap drones can be weaponized and thrown. Tanks can be destroyed by cheap drones and missiles. It’s rock, paper, scissors, but with tank warfare. Drones will need to be adequately defended against, so the Military Industrial Complex can splurge for more anti-drone technologies — camera systems, radars, and missile defense.
The story about the F-16s are not about the F-16’s.
F-16’s — similar in the previously mentioned (and other) ways to the tanks, will require MASSIVE western investments in logistical and operational support. They might even require NATO pilots (not necessarily American or Ukrainian pilots — who it will take months, if not years to train) to fly them in Ukrainian airspace.
Not to mention that — lacking modern 5th generation fighter stealth technology — they too are large, flying ducks which can be picked off by Russian, Chinese, or (I ponder) Iranian anti-aircraft defense systems.
Ukraine won’t be like instituting a no-fly-zone in Syria, Libya, or Iraq — all places where there exist(ed) relatively little in terms of sophisticated anti-aircraft defense systems. There are countermeasures already in the Russian arsenal that can defeat both the tanks and F-16s.
The story about the F-16s is not about the F-16s. This must be repeated until it is understood.
The tanks are important insofar as they become slow moving targets for suicide drones and other Russian, Iranian, and Chinese weapons systems that are being tested in the field in preparation for a larger conflict. The F-16’s are important for a similar, but distinct reason. These systems then need to be adequately defended against by way of anti-aircraft, anti-drone warfare, electronic warfare, and other more expensive & sophisticated defense systems.
All luring in larger and larger contracts for the Military Industrial Complex.
In short — all the stories about the tanks and F-16s are not about the tanks and F-16s.
They are about something else.
